Hello all!!
It’s been a while hasn’t it - well we’ve been busy!! New single mixed for Epic26. New Album from Bosie. New album from Mario Caribe, Newt, Chris Wallace, and Live recordings for Nuala Kennedy and Simon Thacker. Also finished Moishe’s Bagel’s new album called Uncle Roland’s Flying Machine. Everything is well!

Bagels Opera and The Credit Crunch

Hello people!
I’ve been away on a fantastic tour of England with Moishe’s Bagel and no sooner was I back than I was off to a beautiful old church in the midlothian countryside to record the stunning duo of Simon Thacker and Claire de Bono.
So it seems the Credit Crunch is hitting hard and these are tough times - however, apparently the creative arts is one of the only boom industries in the economy at the moment so there has never been a better time to get in touch for a price busting recording!!

Happy New Year One and All from Bootcamp Recordings. I thought I’d take the opportunity to reflect and thank people for a great 2008.
Bootcamp Live was responsible for the smooth running of sound at 3 venues over the Edinburgh International Jazz Festival this year. We were in control of The Three Sisters, Minto Hotel and The Lot and it was MAD HECTIC!!! Big thanks to our capable engineers Mark McKellen and Graeme Godley for their amazing work over the festival. August saw us involved in the Edinburgh Mela through DM Audio which was fantastic, though Curry for breakfast lunch AND dinner maybe wasn’t the best idea!! Still on the live circuit many successful gigs were had by Any Color Black and we also toured with Kidsamonium, Moishe’s Bagel and the world premiere of Martin Kershaw’s “Hero As Riddle”
We’ve also been recording alot of talented people this year. Nuala Kennedy, the fantastic flautist has been working with us on tracks for her forthcoming album and her side project with guitarist Phillipe Guidat “Voyage de Nuit” It has been fantastic working with Nuala and we look forward to many more sessions in the New Year. We’ve also recorded The Edinburgh Saxophone Quartet out at Napier University and look forward to working with them more in 2009. In terms of proud moments, it was great to hear that our recording of Ryan Quigley’s “Laphroigian Slip” has been voted Radio Scotlands Jazz Record of the year, along with the release of Any Color Black’s EP Touch Me in early December. The last recording of 2008 was with the fantastic Epic 26 in late December - One Week - Five Tracks complete for their EP due for release in Early 2009!! Once it’s released we’ll put it up for your listening pleasure on this site. So - 2008 - A brilliant year - Here’s some thankyous:
David Murray - for all his sage advice and input
Mark McKellen - for his general incredibleness and great ears!
Any Color Black - For Everything!!
Epic26 - for all the hard work and proving that mobile recording is the way forward.
My landlord David Pollock for having patience and belief in the company!!

A long overdue update!

Above is Mario Caribe from Moishe’s Bagel getting spiritual with his cavacino at the Ring of Brodgar in Orkney. The end of May saw Bootcamp Live travel to Orkney with the Bagels and a fantastic folk festival was had by all.
On the recording front, Ryan Quigley’s album, “Laphroig-ian Slip” was released at the Glasgow Jazz Festival with a concert at City Halls which Dave and Mark Bootcamp both attended - much wine was drunk and good music absorbed!
We’ve also been working on live tracks with Any Color Black and are about to travel to somewhere in the Borders to record a young Death Metal Band called “Hardrada” Then it’s Bootcamp Live running 3 venues at the Edinburgh Jazz Festival....... So all in all still busy!!
